Each yacht must pass a comprehensive 150-point safety and service audit, including verification of all SOLAS-grade life-saving appliances and a thorough inspection of its engine room and navigation systems, before being considered for our fleet.

  • Valid certification from Indonesia’s Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Laut (DGST), including a current *Surat Persetujuan Berlayar* (Port Clearance) for every departure.

• Environmental Responsibility (Weighting: 10%):
  • Advanced wastewater treatment systems (Marine Sanitation Devices Type II or higher) to prevent any discharge of untreated waste.
  • A strict, enforced policy to minimize single-use plastics, providing guests with reusable water bottles and filtered water stations.
  • Exclusive use of reef-safe sunscreens and biodegradable cleaning products.
  • Strict adherence to no-anchor zones within the marine protected areas, particularly around the fragile coral gardens of Pulau Hatta and the Lava Flow dive site.

A vessel must score a minimum of 90% on our audit to be accepted. These comprehensive 2-day audits are conducted annually, typically in July during the off-season, through on-site inspections by our Director of Expeditions.

• Local Guides: Must be licensed by the HPI (Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia) and undergo our own in-house training on our specific historical and ecological curriculum, ensuring they can speak with authority on everything from VOC trade politics to the life cycle of the mandarin fish.
