Bio: Arief is the visionary behind our curated journeys. Born in Ambon, the stories of the Spice Route are in his blood. After completing his master’s degree in 2002, he dedicated his career to developing sustainable tourism in Eastern Indonesia. Arief has personally charted over 5,000 nautical miles within the Banda Sea and maintains close relationships with community leaders across the 11 main islands of the archipelago. Credentials: Master (Deck) Officer Class 1 (ANT I, unlimited tonnage) from STIP Jakarta, STCW 95 Certified, SOLAS Advanced Training, 25+ years as Captain with over 500,000 nautical miles logged in Indonesian waters.
Bio: The safety and smooth navigation of our vessels rest in Captain Ucup’s exceptionally capable hands. A native of Bugis seafaring heritage—the culture that created the legendary Pinisi schooners—he has spent his life on the water. He possesses an unparalleled knowledge of the Banda Sea’s currents, weather patterns, and over 150 hidden anchorages. He is fully certified under Indonesia’s Directorate General of Sea Transportation and ensures our yachts exceed international safety standards, conducting rigorous weekly safety drills.
Dr. Rina Lestari
Role: Resident Marine Biologist & Conservation Lead
Credentials: Ph.D. in Marine Biology (Institut Pertanian Bogor), PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT), author of 4 peer-reviewed articles on Coral Triangle biodiversity.
Bio: Dr. Rina transforms our diving excursions into a profound educational experience. She leads guided underwater tours, identifying many of the 550+ reef-building coral species and explaining the delicate ecology of the Banda Sea’s reefs. Bapak Elias ‘Eli’ Manuputty
